Dane Olmstead enters his senior season as one of the nation’s premier combo specialists and one of the most complete special teams prospects in the 2027 recruiting class. Standing 6-foot-2, 204 pounds, Olmstead possesses the ideal frame to excel at the next level. The Illinois native has developed into a true three-phase specialist, consistently demonstrating the ability to impact games as a kicker, punter, and kickoff specialist. He lets his performance do the talking—a trait commonly found among the game’s best specialists.
KT Evaluation
Evaluated Jul 24, 2026Dane Olmstead is one of the most physically gifted combo prospects in America. His size, strength, and athleticism immediately translate to the football, allowing him to generate effortless power in every phase of the kicking game. As a placekicker, he strikes a clean football with outstanding leg strength and excellent trajectory. His smooth operation and repeatable mechanics allow him to consistently drive the ball through the uprights with confidence and range. On kickoffs, Olmstead possesses the leg talent to consistently flip field position, producing deep kicks with the hang time necessary to challenge return units. As a punter, he shows impressive command of both distance and direction while continuing to develop into a complete collegiate-level weapon. What separates Olmstead from many elite specialists is his physical profile. At 6’2”, 204 pounds, he already has the frame college strength staffs love to work with, giving him tremendous long-term upside as he continues to mature. ⸻ KT Recruiting Evaluation Dane Olmstead has every physical and mental tool to become a difference-maker at the next level. His size, versatility, and ability to drive the football in all three phases make him one of the most complete specialists in the country. Just as impressive is the way he approaches the position. Olmstead is humble, composed, and quietly confident—qualities you consistently see in high-level college specialists and NFL veterans. He simply goes to work, competes, and lets his performance speak for itself. We believe Olmstead is the second-best combo specialist in America, and we don’t think it’s particularly close. His ceiling is incredibly high, especially as a punter, where his frame and natural athleticism project exceptionally well. In our opinion, he has everything necessary to develop into one of the premier SEC punters and a player capable of competing at the professional level. His best football is still ahead of him.
