Kale Phelps

Kale Phelps' natural swing is the first thing that catches our attention. His field goal operation has a smoothness to it that you don't want to overcoach. Phelps makes clean contact, produces tight rotation, and follows through naturally toward his target. His finish creates a clean line downfield, and when his timing is right, the entire operation flows together with very little wasted movement. We especially like what happens after contact. Phelps doesn't abruptly stop his momentum or fight against his swing. He allows his leg to work naturally through the football, producing a clean follow-through that helps him maintain both accuracy and ball flight. There is still room for Phelps to become stronger and more consistent, which is exciting considering the quality of football he's already capable of producing. Continued physical development should add more distance to an operation that already has many of the technical pieces in place. His versatility as a kicker/punter adds another layer to his projection. While his field goal ability currently stands out most, continuing to develop the punting side of his game could make him an increasingly valuable specialist at the college level. KT Recruiting Evaluation Kale Phelps is a name we expect to continue moving up the 2028 rankings. He isn't starting from scratch mechanically. The natural swing, clean strike, rotation, follow-through, and downfield finish are already there. Now it's about continuing to develop his body, sharpening his consistency, and allowing quality coaching to bring everything together. Training under James Wilhoit should only help accelerate that progression. Phelps has access to high-level instruction, and we're interested to see how his game evolves as that coaching combines with increased strength and experience. Our staff considers Phelps one of the better 2028 specialist prospects in Kentucky, with plenty of room to climb nationally. If his development continues on its current trajectory, we expect him to become an increasingly interesting college prospect and a player whose ranking could look very different by the end of his high school career.
