Scouting Report

Overview

About Luke

Luke Cody enters his senior season as one of the premier kicking prospects in Texas after committing to Alabama, giving the Crimson Tide another talented specialist with SEC-caliber upside. The Texas native put together an impressive junior campaign, converting 10-of-14 field goals with a long of 54 yards, while adding 42-of-43 extra points. He also recorded 42 touchbacks on 66 kickoffs, though not every kickoff assignment called for maximum depth, making his raw touchback total even more impressive. With his recruitment behind him, Cody now turns his attention toward finishing his high school career with another standout season before making the jump to one of college football’s premier programs.

KT Evaluation

Evaluated Jul 24, 2026

Luke Cody has already demonstrated one of the traits college coaches value most—proven long-range production in live game situations. His 54-yard field goal as a junior wasn’t simply a display of leg strength; it reinforced his ability to execute when the lights are on. For SEC programs, showing legitimate long-range capability on Friday nights carries significant weight, and Cody has consistently proven he can extend an offense’s scoring range in meaningful situations. Mechanically, Cody is a smooth, confident ball striker who produces a clean football with excellent trajectory. He trusts his operation, stays balanced through contact, and consistently drives through the ball, allowing his natural leg strength to translate into game production. His junior season numbers—10-of-14 on field goals and 42-of-43 on extra points—reflect the consistency expected from an elite college prospect. His kickoff ability further complements his game. While 42 touchbacks on 66 kickoffs stand out on paper, that number doesn’t tell the full story, as not every kickoff was designed to be driven out of the end zone. His leg strength gives coaches the flexibility to execute different kickoff strategies while still possessing the power to consistently create touchbacks when asked. KT Recruiting Evaluation Luke Cody has all the traits of a future impact SEC kicker. The combination of proven in-game production, legitimate long-range field goal ability, and consistent ball striking made him an easy fit for Alabama’s recruiting board. Perhaps most importantly, Cody enters one of the best developmental environments in college football. With his natural talent, proven production, and the coaching he’ll receive in Tuscaloosa, we believe he has every opportunity to develop into one of the SEC’s top kickers. His best football is still ahead of him, and we expect another outstanding senior season before he begins his career with the Crimson Tide.
